Nichole and Bailey bow their heads as church elder John Martinko anoints Bailey’s head with oil and prays over her at their home in Independence. Martinko or another church elder, Jim Mulheron, stop by to pray almost every day at the request of the family. Oak Grove, where Nichole was raised, is a small town with a strong sense of community. Mulheron’s wife grew up in the area and knows Nichole’s mother. His daughter and Nichole, almost the same age, were friendly in church. |
